It is known by the House of
Mitreo because of its proximity to the remains of a possible temple dedicated
to Mitra, which appeared on the site occupied by the bullring. The house,
located outside the walls of the Roman city, was built at the end of the 1st
century or the beginning of the 2nd century. Some of its structures
and decorations are of later dates given the remodelings that its use, over
several centuries, made necessary. Its dependencies are distributed around
three patios that articulate the life of the House and provide light and
ventilation. It is paved with one of the most interesting mosaics that appeared
in the city: the cosmological mosaic. It embodies the conception of the world
and the forces of nature that govern it, along with some human activity.
